21.06.2012 w Moskwie rozpoczął się 34. Międzynarodowy Festiwal Filmowy(МОСКОВСКИЙ МЕЖДУНАРОДНЫЙ КИНОФЕСТИВАЛЬ).
W konkursie głównym pojawią się m in. filmy:

- „Czerwiec”(„Krapetz”)-reż. Kirił Stankow (Bułgaria),
- „Apostoł”(„O Apóstolo”)-reż. Fernando Cortizo (Hiszpania),
- „Drzwi”(„Az ajtó”)-reż. Istvan Szabo (Węgry, Niemcy),
- „Ludożerca-wegetarianin”(„Ljudozder Vegetarijanac”)-reż. Branko Schmidt (Chorwacja),
- „Ostatnia bajka Rity”(„Последняя сказка Риты”)-reż. Renata Litwinowa (Rosja),
- „Piekielny płomień”(„Jioghwa”)-reż. Li San U (Korea Płd., Filipiny),
- „Termin ważności”(„Fecha de caducidad”)-reż. Kenya Marquez (Meksyk),
- „80 milionów”-reż. Waldemar Krzystek (Polska),
- „Junkhearts”-reż. Tinge Krishnan(Wielka Brytania).
Oprócz konkursu głównego do programu festiwalu zostały włączone pokazy pozakonkursowe, retrospekcje, przeglądy filmów krótkometrażowych i dokumentalnych.
W jury tegorocznego festiwalu zasiadają brazylijski reżyser Hektor Babenko, Rosjanin Siergiej Łoban, francuski aktor i reżyser Jean-Marc Barr, włoska producentka filmowa Adriana Chieza Di Palma oraz bułgarski reżyser Jawor Gyrdiew. Gościem honorowym festiwalu jest amerykański reżyser, aktor i producent filmowy Tim Burton.
Prezydentem Moskiewskiego Festiwalu Filmowego jest znany rosyjski reżyser filmowy Nikita Michałkow.
Główną nagrodą festiwalu jest statuetka „Złoty Święty Jerzy”. Na przestrzeni lat laureatami moskiewskiego festiwalu byli wybitni mistrzowie światowego kina: Japończyk Akira Kurosawa, Włosi-Federico Fellini i Etore Scola, polscy reżyserzy-Andrzej Wajda, Krzysztof Zanussi i Krzysztof Kieślowski, Rosjanie-Gleb Panfiłow, Nikołaj Dostal.
